Crafter’s Heaven… I don’t think I’m exaggerating…

This weekend, I found a little slice of heaven.  I swear, as we walked through the front doors, angels sang, beams of light poured in, and baby deer drank from a calm stream. (Too much?)   Who knew heaven was located in Point Breeze??  These magical places that I call heaven are known to other people as Construction Junction and Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse.

Construction Junction is a non-profit that accepts donations of used building materials to resell for reuse and re-purposing.  It is awesome!  The warehouse building houses a variety of materials from wood, metal, plumbing, cabinets, and much more.

Can you say Wall-O-Doors?!

You never know what you will find!

The hubby and I have a LARGE movie collection.  We’re thinking of buying these shelving units donated by a video store to help us organize and show off our collection in a creative way.

Feeling crafty? I thought it would be super cool to buy one of these doors (very cheap!), cut out the panels, and use the space to frame some family photos.

Located right around the corner from Construction Junction, is my other happy place: Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse.  Did you ever start a craft project and find that you need just a handful of beads?  Or maybe you bought a whole ball of yarn and don’t know what to do with the extra?  THIS is the place for you!  You can donate partially used craft supplies and find just the right amount of what you need for your next project.  Now do you understand why I call this place heaven?!

For my Do-It-Yourself peeps, check this out!  A bin of wine corks…

You can buy 10 for $1 and make a gorgeous centerpiece for a wedding or accent piece for you home mantel.

BEADS!  Buy just as many as you need to enhance your sea-theme party or add glimmer to a candle-light floral piece.

Remember the Offbeat Occasions post about Candy Bars??

Plenty of glassware to fill with candy without spending a fortune!

Seriously.  Do I need to say more?  These non-profits are doing good for our community, our resources, and adding some affordable smiles to our lives.  Clearly, heaven.
